Almost the weekend on the Edge of America. 🌅

A quiet stretch of sand, the lighthouse on the horizon, and the kind of view that reminds you to slow down for a minute.

Not a bad way to start a Friday on Folly.

The path to beach season looks pretty good right about now. 🌊☀️

Warmer days, salty breezes, and the sound of waves just a short walk away. Spring has arrived on Folly, and the island is starting to feel like summer again.

Time to grab the sunscreen and head for the water.

#FollyBusinessSpotlight - Folly Beach Crab Shack 🦀🌽🍤

Some Folly traditions come served in a bucket.

For more than 20 years, Folly Beach Crab Shack has been a go-to spot for locals and visitors looking to roll up their sleeves and dig into fresh Lowcountry seafood just steps from the beach.

From overflowing seafood buckets stacked with crab legs, shrimp, corn, and potatoes to crispy fried flounder, shrimp baskets, and classic crab cakes, the menu is all about simple coastal flavors done right. The kind of food that pairs perfectly with salty air, cold drinks, and good company.

The atmosphere is just as much a part of the experience. Open-air tables, friendly faces, and the easygoing rhythm of Center Street create the kind of place where people gather after a day on the water or settle in to share a meal with friends and family.

It is relaxed, welcoming, and unmistakably Folly.

Recognized by Southern Living as one of the Southeast’s best seafood dives, the Crab Shack continues to serve up fresh seafood, warm hospitality, and the kind of laid-back island energy that keeps people coming back year after year.

So if you find yourself on Folly and the craving for seafood hits, you know where to go.

Sometimes the best meals are the ones where you leave the table a little messy and a lot happy. 🦀

Spring is waking up the water around Folly. 🌊🐟

The marsh is moving again. Shorebirds return to the mudflats. Bait begins to fill the creeks as the tides shift deeper into spring. For anglers and nature lovers alike, April is when the Lowcountry starts to come alive.

Local charter captain Capt. Gates spends his days watching these changes unfold from the water. Each month, he shares what he is seeing across the marsh, the estuary, and the nearshore reefs around Folly Beach.

In our newest blog post, Capt. Gates walks through what is happening on the water right now. From the return of migrating shorebirds to the fish showing up around oyster beds, creeks, and nearshore structure, April is shaping up to be an exciting time to get out on the water.

Whether you fish, kayak, birdwatch, or simply love the rhythm of the marsh, this month’s report offers a look at the wild side of Folly in spring. 🐚

The weekend winds down a little differently on Folly. 🌅

The marsh turns gold.
The boats settle in for the night.
And the sky puts on one last show before the sun slips away.

Just another Sunday evening doing its thing at the Edge of America. 🌊🐚

🌊 Tomorrow, Folly shows a little extra love for the island.

Volunteers from across the community will head out for Toby’s Earth Month Island Wide Spring Sweep, spreading out across five cleanup stations from 2 pm to 4 pm to help keep the beaches, marshes, and streets of the Edge of America looking their best.

It is one of those simple Folly traditions. A couple of hours outside, good people working together, and a shared goal of keeping this place as beautiful as we found it.

And when the sweep wraps up, the island gathers at Lowlife from 4 pm to 6 pm at 106 East Hudson to celebrate with half off appetizers and a well-earned afternoon together. 🍤🌴

If you have been meaning to join, there is still time to grab a spot and pick a cleanup station.

Sign up here at the link in our bio.

See you tomorrow, Folly. 🍃

#FollyBusinessSpotlight - Respect the Break 🌊🏄

Some parts of Folly’s culture live right in the water.

Respect the Break is a community-driven effort to protect the everyday experience of being on the island. Built by locals and small business owners, the initiative focuses on preserving surf culture, improving beach safety, and supporting the kind of access that keeps Folly welcoming for everyone.

Their work helps bring attention to things that matter to the island community. From advocating for clear surf safety signage and well-maintained beach showers to encouraging thoughtful conversations around beach access and parking, Respect the Break works to protect the balance that makes Folly special.

Just as importantly, they celebrate the spirit of the island itself. Surfing, gathering with neighbors, supporting local businesses, and keeping Folly authentic for the people who live, work, and spend time here.

It is all part of the same idea. Taking care of the place we love and respecting the rhythm of the break. 🌊

🎶 Live music by the river tonight on Folly.

The Folly Beach Spring Concert Series brings Broken Skyline to Folly River Park this evening with a bluegrass tribute to Tom Petty from 6 pm to 8 pm.

As the sun starts to dip and the breeze rolls in off the water, the park fills with music, neighbors, and that easy island energy that makes nights like this feel special.

Bring a chair, bring a friend, and settle in for a little live music by the river. The show is free and open to everyone. 🌅🎸

Sometimes the best evenings on Folly are the simple ones.
