🌊🌿 Beyond the waves, another side of Folly Beach is waiting to be explored.

The island's beaches, marshes, and maritime forests remind us that some of the most memorable moments happen when we simply slow down and take it all in. 💙

🌊 Know Before You Go: Rip Current Safety 🌊

A great beach day starts with being prepared.

Rip currents can happen at any beach, so it's important to know what to do before you head into the water. If you ever find yourself caught in a rip current:

🌊 Stay calm. Rip currents do not pull you underwater.
➡️ Don't swim directly against the current.
🏊 Swim parallel to the shore until you're out of the current, then make your way back to the beach.
🛟 If you can't escape, float or tread water and wave or call for help.

Whenever possible, swim near a lifeguard and never swim alone. A little preparation can help keep your day on the Edge of America safe and enjoyable. 💙

🌊🏛️ One of Folly Beach's most recognizable landmarks has been watching over the coast for nearly 150 years.

The Morris Island Lighthouse has guided ships into Charleston Harbor, weathered shifting shorelines, and become a lasting symbol of the Lowcountry. Standing just offshore, its story is one of resilience, history, and the ever-changing coastline that makes this place so special. 💙

Want to learn how the lighthouse ended up surrounded by water, why it remains an icon today, and the best ways to experience it during your visit?

📖 Check out this great article from My Family Travels at the link in our bio.

Whether you're seeing the lighthouse for the first time or the hundredth, its story is always worth discovering.
