🌅🏖️Know before you go🏖️🌅
Every great summer starts at Folly Beach, but as we get out our surfgear and head for the waves, it is important to stay safe while in the water. This tourist season, we encourage everyone to read the rip current safety info below. Rip currents start fast, and it is important to know what to do before you get in the water.
A few important reminders:
🌊Swim near a lifeguard whenever possible
🌊 Never swim alone
🌊Pay attention to beach warning flags and posted signage
🌊 If you're unsure about conditions, ask a lifeguard before entering the water
If you are caught in a rip current:
✅ Stay calm
✅Don't fight the current
✅ Swim parallel to shore to get out of the current
✅ Float or tread water if needed
✅ Wave and call for help if you need assistance
A huge thank you to Respect the Break for their continued efforts to educate beachgoers about the dangers of rip currents and ocean safety.
Please save the graphic below, share it with your beach crew, and stay safe🌊🏖️
