There are days meant for celebration, and there are days meant for reflection. ❤️🤍💙

Today is a day to pause.

To remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country and reflect on the sacrifices made for others.

As people gather with family, spend time outdoors, and enjoy the slower rhythm of the day, we hope there is also space to remember those whose courage and service will never be forgotten. 🌊

Wishing everyone a meaningful Memorial Day.

Summer on Folly is getting closer, and one of the island’s favorite traditions is right around the corner. ☀️

On Saturday, June 6, the Folly Beach Pier will once again fill with kids, families, fishing rods, and plenty of excitement during the 15th Annual Jerry Pierce Memorial Take A Kid Fishing Tournament hosted by the Folly Beach Anglers.

From first catches to proud smiles along the pier, it is the kind of day that creates lasting memories for so many families each year. 🐟

The event is completely free, open to kids ages 4-16, and rods, reels, and bait will be provided for the first 300 participants. No pre-registration is required.

There will also be trophies, prizes, and even a free bicycle raffle sponsored by Cool Breeze Bikes. 🚲

Memorial Day Weekend is still rolling on at the Edge of America. 🏖️

The beach is a little busier, the days are stretching a little longer, and Folly is settling into that early summer feeling everyone waits for all year.

Coolers in the sand. Barefoot walks along the shoreline. One more round of beach days before the work week returns.

Whether you are here for the full weekend or just soaking up part of it, we are glad you are spending it on Folly. 🌤️

Memorial Day Weekend on Folly always has its own rhythm. 🌊

Beach towels draped over bikes. Sandy feet in corner stores. Music floating out from open patios. A few more surfboards under people’s arms than usual.

It is one of the busiest weekends of the year, but Folly still feels like Folly. A little funky, a little sunburnt, and happiest when everyone is outside enjoying the day. ☀️

Here’s to the unofficial start of summer at the Edge of America.

Memorial Day Weekend starts here. ☀️🌊

The bags are unpacked. The sandals are by the door. The walk to the beach feels a little slower in the best way.

Welcome to Folly Beach, where long weekends are meant for ocean air, sunset walks, good food, and losing track of time along the Edge of America. 🌴

We cannot wait to spend Memorial Day Weekend with you.

There’s something really grounding about slowing down long enough to notice the wildlife around Folly. 🐦🌾

A hawk watching quietly from above. Shorebirds moving with the tide. Oystercatchers weaving through the sand at their own unhurried pace.

For many visitors, these are the moments that stay with them long after they leave the island. The stillness. The movement. The feeling of sharing space with the natural rhythm of the coast. 🌊

Folly has always been a place where nature feels close. Sometimes all you have to do is pause and look around.

What wildlife sightings have become part of your Folly memories?

A good evening on Folly does not always need much. A breeze off the river, a chair in the grass, and live music as the sun starts to settle. 🌅🎶

Tonight, the Folly Beach Spring Concert Series continues with Southbound 17 bringing their harmony-driven alt-country sound to Folly River Park from 6-8 pm.

#FollyBusinessSpotlight - Mr. John’s Beach Store 🐚

A trip to Folly Beach is not complete without wandering into Mr. John’s.

For generations, this little corner shop on Center Street has been part beach store, part treasure hunt, and part piece of Folly history. Flip flops out front. Shark teeth hanging from the ceiling. Seashells, surf gear, souvenirs, and the kind of quirky finds you did not know you needed until you spotted them inside. 🌊

Mr. John’s has been part of the island since 1951, and while the store entered a new chapter under new ownership in 2024, the spirit of the place still feels deeply connected to old Folly Beach. Colorful, a little funky, and full of character. ☀️

It is the kind of spot people return to year after year, not just for what is on the shelves, but for the memories tied to it.

Next time you are walking Center Street, step inside and take a look around. You never know what you will find. 🏄
