Thank You For Coming to Taste of Folly 2023

The highly anticipated and widely beloved Taste of Folly Festival was hosted with the Taste of Folly Cocktail Competition on Friday, January 13th and the “Savory Saturday” street closure event on Saturday, January 14th this year.
The weekend kicked off with the Taste of Folly Cocktail Competition on Friday, January 13th where our local mixologists battled it out at the Tides Hotel over custom craft cocktails created with the featured Larceny Bourbon. We drank, we laughed, and we had a blast as the judges decided who had the best cocktail of the event.
1st Place: “The Bird” by The Drop In Bar & Deli created with Larceny Bourbon, peach schnapps, lemon juice, and ginger beer.
2nd Place: “Larceny Latte” by BLU Beach Bar & Grill created with Larceny bourbon, Kahlua, cold brew coffee, and assorted syrup flavors.
3rd Place: “Prison Break” by Jack of Cups Saloon created with pineapple-infused Larceny Bourbon, cachaca, lemon juice, orgeat, sugar cane & pineapple puree, and Cholula hot sauce.
The cocktail competition sold out QUICK this year so be sure to grab your tickets extra early next year!
Then, the fun continued on Saturday, January 14th with the Savory Saturday street closure festival. It was a delicious celebration of Folly Beach as our amazing bars, restaurants, and vendors took over Center Street to share their love of good food and great fun! We enjoyed signature dishes from our local businesses, cooking demonstrations, a hot dog eating contest, oyster shucking contest, and we even brought back the beloved ‘One Pot Showdown’ chili cook-off. Live music was enjoyed all around on our three stages, and the kids had a blast in our robust kids area.
1st Place in the Hot Dog Eating Contest: Nicholas Elmore with 15 hot dogs eaten.
1st Place in the Oyster Shucking Contest: Brooklyn Paul with 28 oysters shucked.
1st Place in the ‘One Pot Showdown’: Tom Powers with their delicious chili recipe.
We are so ecstatic with how the 2023 Taste of Folly Festival went this year, we just can’t thank everyone enough for joining us and are looking forward to next year!

Peaceful & Beautiful
This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.
Fantastic & Peaceful
This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
Cute, Calm & Peaceful
First time visitor to Folly Beach–loved it! Quiet and peaceful with many trees left on island.
