Fall also brings one of Folly Beach’s favorite annual celebrations back to Center Street.

Mermaids & Mateys returns Saturday, October 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a seaside celebration packed with Folly personality. Center Street will fill with live music, local art, craft and fashion vendors, costume contests, family activities and plenty of under-the-sea fun.

The festival is free to attend, but free ticket registration is required, with entrance available on a first-come, first-served basis up to capacity.

It is a fitting way to celebrate the season: a little colorful, a little unexpected, and unmistakably Folly.

And There Is More to Come

Fall may eventually give way to winter, but Folly’s event calendar is just getting started.

The Folly Beach Christmas Parade returns December 12, bringing festive floats, community groups, and holiday cheer to Center Street. Then, on December 31, Folly rings in the New Year with its annual fireworks show and iconic midnight Flip-Flop Drop.

The celebration continues January 1 with the Bill Murray Polar Plunge, when locals and visitors gather beachside to welcome the New Year in true Folly fashion.
