Protect the Edge of America This World Oceans Day on Folly Beach
Join Toby and Friends, in partnership with the South Carolina Aquarium, for World Oceans Day 2026 on Monday, June 8, as the Folly Beach community comes together to protect the beaches and waterways that make the Edge of America so special.
The event will take place from 4PM to 6PM at Tides Beachside. It will feature guest speakers, conservation organizations, and a community-wide beach and roadside cleanup to keep Folly clean and beautiful for generations to come.
Folly Beach is proud to be recognized by the United Nations as one of the international coastal communities dedicated to coastal cleanup efforts and ocean education, making this annual event an important part of a global movement to protect our oceans.
Volunteers are encouraged to participate in the cleanup and celebration while enjoying an afternoon of community, conservation, and coastal pride. A group photo will be taken at Tides Beachside at 6PM before the celebration continues with the after party at Pinky’s on the Beach and Koko’s on the Pier. Participants who volunteer and receive wristbands will enjoy special discounts from participating Folly Beach businesses from 6PM to 8PM.
Whether you’re a longtime local, weekend visitor, or first-time guest to Folly Beach, World Oceans Day is an opportunity to give back to the coastline we all love while celebrating the community spirit that makes Folly one of a kind.

Peaceful & Beautiful
This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.
Fantastic & Peaceful
This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
Cute, Calm & Peaceful
First time visitor to Folly Beach–loved it! Quiet and peaceful with many trees left on island.
