Celebrate Earth Day From Home

Celebrate Earth Day From Home

For those who call Folly Beach home as well as those just passing through, it is no secret that one of Folly’s main attractions is its gorgeous landscape. From the County Park to Robbins Creek, down to the washout and out to Morris Island, “The Edge of America” truly is where nature and civilization meet.

Earth Day is a great reminder of this, as well as the impact each of us can have simply by making small steps in the right direction. While we all remain home, doing our part to help flatten the curve, there are still steps we can take to make a difference.

While we have cut back on emissions by driving less, our tv’s and laptops have been getting quite the workout. Unplug for the day and instead read a book, take a walk, or play a game. Everyone can make an effort to cut back on electricity especially when stuck at home.

A fun way to get to know Earth’s inhabitants a little better is to set up a birdfeeder or create a homemade birdhouse to interact with nature and brighten up your backyard as well.

Finally, while you’re at home with time to kill, look into transferring your paper bills over to electronic versions. It will help shrink the clutter on your kitchen counter and help the environment all the while.

Remember, the official “Earth Day” only comes once a year, but we need to be conscious of our environment every day of the year. If you need any motivation to participate this Earth Day check out a few of our videos to remind you of the beauty of Folly Beach and how devastating it would be to see it taken away.

Peaceful & Beautiful

This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.

Fantastic & Peaceful

This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
