A Day at Folly Beach
Whether you are looking for an activity-packed day of adventure or a slow, refreshing day to reset, Folly Beach has the perfect escape for you.
Sunrise at the Sea
Bright and early in the morning, surfers can hit the waves and beach combers can begin their search for the perfect seashells. A morning on the beach is the perfect way to start the day, with the soft sound of the waves crashing on the beach and the cool sand between your toes as the sun peeks over the horizon.Â
Of course, for those of us who need a little caffeine to help wake us up, Folly has plenty of coffee shops to offer. Whether grabbing a sandwich from Lost Dog Cafe or a seasonal latte from Black Magic Cafe, you can never go wrong.

Shopping and Exploring
After a perfect morning of watching the sunrise on the beach, enjoy exploring the local shops on Center Street! Visit McKelvin’s to check out new surf gear and visit local shops such as Country Salt Apparel and Mr. John’s Beach Store for handmade jewelry and one-of-a-kind gifts!Â
Of course the beach is wonderful, but Folly also has a riverfront. The marsh is the perfect place to spend the afternoon bird-watching, kayaking, or fishing. If you want to see even more of the marsh, check out Folly’s eco tours! Afterwards, sit back and enjoy the sunset– the marsh is known to have the best sunset views on the island!

Sunset at the Pier + Winding Down the Evening
After a day at the beach, exploring local shops, and checking out the marsh, Folly Beach pier is the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset. With the golden glow reflecting off the ocean, and plenty of places to sit and stand, the pier is a great way to end the day.Â
And if you’re still hungry, Folly has endless choices of places to grab the perfect bite. Enjoy dinner and drinks at places like Bounty Bar, Coconut Joe’s, and the Folly Beach Crabshacks. Like everything at Folly, there are no wrong choices, just plenty of new places to explore.

Peaceful & Beautiful
This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.
Fantastic & Peaceful
This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
Cute, Calm & Peaceful
First time visitor to Folly Beach–loved it! Quiet and peaceful with many trees left on island.
