Folly Beach Writer’s Trip

Folly Beach Writer’s Trip

Folly Beach is an island treasure that Charleston locals love. We decided
to share the love by inviting two of our favorite bloggers Lillie and Roni
down south to experience Folly for themselves. On the ride in from the airport,
they marveled at the beautiful views of the Lowcountry and set their sights on the
seashore and a fun filled girlfriends’ weekend.

Digging into both the traditional southern fare and the eclectic surprises at
Folly staples such as Rita’s and Chico Feo, Lillie and Roni enjoyed the character
and the unique aesthetic of our little beach town. While Tideline Tours hosted the
girls on a boat ride to the Morris Island Lighthouse, the playful dolphins were
right on cue as they zoomed in and out of the water and popped their heads up
next to the boat to say “welcome to Folly!”

They were directed to stop by The Ship Store at Sunset Cay that evening
for a little treat where the legendary Folly River sunset took their breath away.
When it was time to turn in for the night, they headed back to The Tides Hotel for
some epic ocean views, warm breezes and cool drinks.

Peaceful & Beautiful

This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.

Fantastic & Peaceful

This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
