Kayaking
Kayak through the marsh grasses and saltwater around the island, hopefully you’ll get the chance to see some bottlenose dolphins if you’re lucky!

Surfing
Act like a local and learn to surf! Folly Beach is the #1 beach to surf at in South Carolina and is known for its laid back surfing community. New to surfing? Not to worry! Click here for more information about surf lessons and rentals!

Fishing
South Carolina’s mild coastal climate allows for year-round fishing! Grab your buddies and head to the pier for a day of fishing. The Folly Beach Fishing Pier offers salt-water fishing licenses for purchase, fishing pole rentals, and bait. For river fishing, Folly offers public boat ramp access.

Turtle Watching
Folly Beach is known for being a nesting site for loggerhead turtles. Loggerheads lay their eggs from May throughout September. Volunteers of the Folly Beach Turtle Watch Program welcome visitors to walk the beach along with them as they monitor and assist the nesting sights.

Peaceful & Beautiful

This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.

Fantastic & Peaceful

This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
