The Perfect Fall Day on Folly Beach

The Perfect Fall Day on Folly Beach

As the fall weather starts to cool down and the crowds dissipate, there is no better time to visit Folly Beach than during the fall season. Known as a vibrant, funky beach town, Folly is located only twenty minutes from downtown Charleston for locals and tourists to explore the beaches and downtown. With average temps in the high 70s and low 80s, a walk on the beach, strolling through the shops, or trying a new restaurant spot will result in the perfect fall day at Folly.

To start the day, you’re going to want to fill up on some breakfast at one of the many cafes. Our personal fav, “The Lost Dog Café,” is the perfect spot to grab breakfast with friends and load up on biscuits and gravy. Also, check out the cute photos of dogs hung up all over the walls. Afterward, stroll the Folly Beach Pier or head to the beach on the island’s east end, which has fantastic views of the Morris Island Lighthouse. Both sites offer stunning views and are easily accessible to the public. Up for some shopping? Then, make your way to Center Street, where you will find plenty of shops filled with Folly Beach memorabilia to commemorate your trip.

Looking for some adventure? Look no further than at Folly Beach Moped Rentals, where you can enjoy seeing the city in a fun way! Mopeds are easy to use, convenient, and can be rented for the day. Or you can travel by boat, with tons of boat excursions available. From dolphin boat tours to guided kayak tours, there’s a means of exploration for everyone.

After a long day of either exploration or relaxation, enjoy some of Folly Beaches’ favorite restaurant spots. “The Washout” is a lively spot with great seafood options and live music daily. Looking for some authentic low-country shrimp and grits? Look no further than the “Crab Shack” and enjoy their staple shrimp and grits, as well as plenty of other seafood options. Looking for an authentic Folly Beach favorite? Check out “Chico Feo” for a beachy, local hot spot. There you can try their famous cocktail, the Samari Slinger.

No matter the season, Folly Beach is always a happening, vibrant spot to check out. Now that the weather has cooled down, there is no better time to enjoy the perfect Fall day than at Folly.

Peaceful & Beautiful

This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.

Fantastic & Peaceful

This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
