Folly Beach may be a beach town, but they still know how to do winter right! There are a plethora of events approaching that will undoubtedly bring the jolly to Folly. Here is a list of family- fun events to guide you through the season:
Tree lighting at Folly River Park
- On December 1st at 7pm, the Folly community is ringing in the Holiday season with a Tree Lighting at Folly River Park! This event is perfect for the whole family and will surely help kick-start your holiday spirit.
Santa at Folly River Park
- Time to gather your little elves, because Santa Claus is bringing some jolly to Folly on December 13 from 6pm-7:30pm at Folly River Park! Don’t miss out on allowing your kids to whisper all their Christmas wishes to Ole Saint Nick right in your neighborhood.
Folly Beach Christmas Parade
- This year’s annual Folly Beach Christmas Parade will be held on December 14th at 1pm! Once the parade is finished, there will be entertainment for all to enjoy plus a local market to help you finish up that Christmas list!
Folly Beach Flip Flop Drop and Fireworks
- Flop into 2020 with Folly Beach’s annual Flip Flop Drop! Beginning at 8pm, this New Year’s Eve celebration will ensure the year to come is far from a flop.
Bill Murray Look-A-Likee Polar Plunge
- Ring in the New Year with the Bill Murray Look-A-Like Polar Plunge! Numb your hangover from New Year’s Eve with a dip into the Atlantic dressed as your favorite Bill Murray character. The event begins at 11am, and registration is right on sight! Don’t be silly, you won’t want to miss your chance to dress up like Billy!

Peaceful & Beautiful
This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.
Fantastic & Peaceful
This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
