The Most Instagrammable Spots in Folly Beach, SC

Ready to flood your feed with coastal charm? Folly Beach is packed with photogenic places that capture the island’s quirky, sun-soaked personality. From dreamy sunrises to colorful murals, these are the must-visit photo ops that will level up your grid—and maybe even make your friends a little jealous.
1. The Folly Beach Pier – Golden Hour Perfection
Stretching out over the Atlantic with sweeping views of the shoreline, the newly rebuilt Folly Beach Pier is a local icon and a photographer’s dream. Golden hour—just after sunrise or before sunset—turns the pier into a glowing, pastel masterpiece. Whether snapping a silhouette shot under the pilings or capturing the entire view from the sand, this spot delivers drama and beauty in every frame. Pro tip: For symmetry lovers, try shooting from the center of the pier, looking out or underneath the structure for leading lines.
2. Morris Island Lighthouse – Sunrise Magic
Accessible by foot or bike via the Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve, the Morris Island Lighthouse is among the most striking views in the Lowcountry. Arrive just before sunrise to catch the lighthouse silhouette against a cotton-candy sky. The waves, the light, and the quiet solitude make for moody, cinematic photos you’ll want to print. Best angle: Walk along the shoreline for an uninterrupted view, and use the tide pools for stunning reflections.
3. Local Murals on Center Street – Bursts of Color & Personality
Center Street is the heartbeat of Folly, and it’s filled with hidden (and not-so-hidden) gems for street-style shots. Every corner has a splash of personality, from vibrant murals on local businesses to hand-painted signs and surf-inspired art. These backdrops add fun, flair, and a local vibe to your pics. Look for: The funky surf shop facades, the rainbow wings mural, or any unexpected pops of color along alleyways and shop walls.
4. Graffiti Walls Near the Lighthouse Trail – Folly’s Edgy Side
Before you reach the Morris Island Lighthouse, you’ll pass a stretch of abandoned road covered in layers of graffiti. It’s bold, raw, and unlike anything else on the island. Perfect for edgy, urban-inspired shots that contrast with all the beachy vibes. Plus, the art has changed every time you visit, making each session unique. Vibe: Think “deserted meets creative explosion”—great for fashion shots or moody edits.
5. Oceanfront Views from Loggerhead’s Beach Grill – Chill & Coastal
Want that classic toes-in-the-sand shot with a drink in hand? Loggerhead’s Beach Grill offers front-row seats to the ocean, plus great food, drinks, and live music. Snap a selfie with a sunset cocktail, or get a wide-angle shot of the beach below from the upper deck. It’s casual, coastal, and totally “Folly.” Tip: Order one of their signature frozen drinks for that tropical look.
Whether you’re chasing that warm, golden glow, street art texture, or chill bar vibes, Folly Beach offers endless photo ops for every aesthetic. So charge your phone, grab your camera, and get ready to explore an island full of unforgettable frames.

Peaceful & Beautiful
This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.
Fantastic & Peaceful
This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
Cute, Calm & Peaceful
First time visitor to Folly Beach–loved it! Quiet and peaceful with many trees left on island.
