Monthly Spotlight: Lowlife Bar
Lowlife Bar opened it’s doors to the Folly Beach crowd in July of 2018. With an outdoor bar and garage door windows, the vibe feels open, airy and welcoming. The owners and staff strive not only to satisfy the tourists, but also ensure that the residents of Folly feel like they can call Lowlife their second home.
Lowlife Bar focuses on fresh ingredients and sources them locally whenever possible. The menu of cocktails always includes freshly squeezed juices and high quality spirits. The food at Lowlife is an exciting mixture of laid-back beach fare, such as their tuna poke to tasty southern bar
snacks like pimento cheese and the fried chicken sandwich with old-bay waffle fries. Guests can enjoy Lowlife’s brunch menu 7 days a week and look for nightly specials.
The Lowlife crew is thrilled to be a part of the Folly Beach family and it shows. Throughout the spring and summer season guests can expect to see them host an array of exciting events, such as a local bartender’s competition, Baltimore-style crab feasts and more.

Peaceful & Beautiful
This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.
Fantastic & Peaceful
This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
Cute, Calm & Peaceful
First time visitor to Folly Beach–loved it! Quiet and peaceful with many trees left on island.
