Ahoy, friends! We’re thrilled to announce the return of our beloved Mermaids & Mateys Festival, a Folly Beach favorite, happening October 4, 2025. Gather your crew, throw on your tail or pirate gear, and get ready to celebrate the sea in true Folly fashion with a touch of spooky vibes for fall!

Swashbuckling Saturday | October 4 | 10AM–4PM

This family-friendly, ticketed event is packed with excitement and entertainment for all ages.

Here’s what to expect:

70+ art, craft, and food vendors lining Center Street
Mermaid & Matey Costume Contest: Dress up as a Mermaid, Matey, or your favorite Under the Sea character! Prizes to be awarded! – Sign up here!
Photo ops with real-life mermaids and pirates
Specialty cocktails and themed bites from local bars & restaurants
Kid Zone: Check out the Mermaids and Mateys under-the-sea kids area by Good Clean Fun, which features mermaids, sand crafts, stilt walkers, and more! There will also be free inflatables for games and jumping fun! Keep an eye out for our fun dunk tank!
The Fire Circus: Show starts at 11am on the Ashley Stage!
Live music: We will have three (3) stages of amazing music! Dangermuffin will headline the Ashley Stage in the afternoon. Additional details regarding the lineup will be coming soon!

*The streets will close at 7am and reopen at 6:00pm, but are open to the public from 10am – 4pm. Admission is $10 in advance [and $15 at the door], but is free for Folly residents (must show a valid driver’s license), and kids 12 and under are free.

** Animals/pets, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, weapons, outside beverages, and coolers are NOT permitted within the festival limits. Small bags are allowed and may be subject to search. Large backpacks or oversized bags are NOT permitted. Diaper bags for young children are allowed. Reusable cups are welcome but must be empty when entering and exiting the event. Service animals are permitted.
