February Fishing Forecast
February Fishing Forecast
Fishing in Folly Beach has been good as we continue to enjoy our mild winter. Nearshore and Deep Sea fishing charters have been producing good size and numbers of King Mackerel, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Redfish, Black Sea Bass and several other species. These fish are aggressively attacking a variety of cut and live baits. We have also found a tendency to score larger fish on big artificial lures such as Bucktail jigs and 5 inch Z-man swim baits by trolling and jigging around submerged structure and rock piles.
With the absence of prolonged cold fronts so far this year the inshore fishing charters out of Folly Beach has been outstanding. We have been targeting large schools of Redfish both in the creeks and on the flats and connecting with them well most of the time. The Redfish have been biting live shrimp, mud minnows and smaller soft plastics made by Z-Man. We have been having good luck fishing everything slowly in water 1 to 10 ft deep. Big schools of Redfish are cruising the flats and can be caught using soft plastics, live shrimp and mud minnows and cut mullet. Many big redfish are being caught and we have had much of the water to ourselves, especially during the week. Keep in mind the fish can be spooky and a quiet approach will help you get more bites. The best thing to do is give them some room and watch how they react to your presentation. If they don’t hit the first bait you throw towards them try another. We recently had to back off our fish a few times and let them rest for 5 or 10 minutes before making another presentation and hooking up. The fish are here and biting and our short cold spells will soon give way to longer warm spells then, before you know it Spring will be here! There are plenty of good dates open but with Spring Break and Summer vacation on everyone’s mind a lot of reservations are coming in. Get you trips booked now to get the dates you want. You can reserve your date and make your reservation online here, or simply call or text to connect with us. Let’s go fishing!
We are looking forward to fishing with you!

Peaceful & Beautiful
This was my families first time at the ocean and I will never forget the look of joy on my youngest daughter’s face the moment the waves first came up on her feet. The beach was not over crowded, was clean, and was great for relaxing, swimming, and collecting seashells. There is a long pier for fishing off of and it is a beautiful sight at night. The town atmosphere was a nice mix between relaxing and having a good time and can work for the over 21 crowd as well as for families with small kids. There are plenty of great food stops and cute shops.
Fantastic & Peaceful
This beach is very relaxing and a great place to chill out. We saw several dolphins and enjoyed walking on the fishing pier. I would consider staying on the beach here next time we are in Charleston instead of downtown.
Cute, Calm & Peaceful
First time visitor to Folly Beach–loved it! Quiet and peaceful with many trees left on island.
