January Fishing Forecast

January Fishing Forecast

Our Fishing charters in Folly Beach have seen plenty of action lately as warmer weather and calm conditions have settled into our area. Resident Redfish have begun to gather up in schools on and near the flats and can be seen cruising and sunning themselves at low tide. We have been boating those fish using soft plastic baits by Z-Man and a variety of cut or live bait including shrimp and mud minnows. Light tackle and accurate casts help present our baits more naturally to these wary fish.

The Speckled Trout bite has been good wherever you can find a combination of structure and current. These fish have been taking both plastics and live shrimp very well and when you locate them they seem to be appearing in solid numbers. This time of year the Speckled Trout are often far off the bank so start fan casting 100 feet off the bank and work your way in until you get your first bite.

Deep Sea fishing charters at the nearshore reefs have been finding Black Sea Bass, Sheepshead, Black Drum and some big Bull Reds! These bruisers have been cruising the surface chasing live baits. We have been able to catch them on top water plugs, metal jigs and soft plastics. Most of these fish are well over 30 inches long and have plenty of room to run when hooked so when you get connected be ready for a long fight! I expect January to provide lots of action this year, so get to my online calendar and get your spot saved. I look forward to seeing you on deck soon!

December Fishing Forecast

December Fishing Forecast

Charter Fishing in Folly Beach has been great the past few weeks and we expect it will continue through the end of the year. We have had some occasional cold fronts mixed in with some beautiful warm days and that has kept the fish and fisherman happy! With our “go where the fish are” format, we have been riding out to the reefs on calm days to enjoy nonstop action from Weakfish, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Redfish and more.  We have been targeting those fish with cut bait, casting jigs and topwater lures which have been bringing explosive strikes. When we stay inshore, fishing charters have been putting up solid numbers of Speckled Trout and Redfish as these species begin to fatten themselves up for our short winter. Hungry redfish and Trout are being caught on mullet, shrimp, crab and artificials made by Z-Man and DOA. We expect the usual winter pattern to continue, good fishing inshore, nearshore and everywhere in-between.

Thank You Sigma Nu

Thank You Sigma Nu

What if we told you it is possible to save marine animals, keep toxic chemicals out of the water, and create a safer environment all while making friends, meeting new people, getting exercise, and spending time outdoors? Who wouldn’t want to join in on a local beach clean up! From coast to coast, evidence of humanity is washed up on shore. From cigarette butts to remnants of plastic, the effects of trash go way beyond damaging the overall appearance of the beaches. This debris and trash can be extremely harmful to animals and our oceans, and unfortunately it’s not everyday that people are able to take the time to do something kind for our Earth.

However, this weekend we were honored to find members of the Sigma Nu Fraternity at the College of Charleston cleaning up something near and dear to our hearts, Folly Beach. We are so thankful for them and their desire to be the change we wish to see in the world!

We only have one Earth and it is crucial we take care of it. So, we’d like to challenge our readers to follow Sigma Nu’s footsteps and get out there and be the change they wish to see, too!

November Fishing Forecast

2020-11-03T12:33:03-05:00

November Fishing Forecast

Fishing in Folly Beach has entered full Fall mode as inshore and nearshore fishing is turning red hot! That means we are spending more time casting baits as fish have grouped up in typical November fashion. We have experienced our first cold front now and our waters are cooling down. Our fish take that as a sign that it’s time to fatten up for winter, so overall expect good fishing in Folly Beach through the end of the year. We have been targeting Big Bull Redfish and Black Drum around the inlet, Speckled Trout, Redfish and Flounder inshore. Expect me to take you where I think conditions and the fishing will be the best the day of our trip. That may be back up in the creeks, out in the river or even a nearshore reef. If you have a preference just let me know.
You can check our availability and book your fishing charter directly online right from our website and I encourage you to call, text or email with questions.

October Fishing Forecast

October Fishing Forecast

October and November fishing in Folly Beach is something you simply shouldn’t miss! Cooler temperatures usually provide a reliable bite and ample opportunity to catch multiple species that live inshore, nearshore and out in the Deep water. Our Deep Sea fishing charters have been catching Vermilion Snapper, Grouper, King Mackerel, Sea Bass and plenty of other bottom fish. Be ready to put your back into it as all these fish will try to head back down to the reef as soon as you set the hook. Nearshore fishing charters have been successful targeting big Redfish, Black Drum, Bonito and Spanish Mackerel just off the beach. These drag peelers will require some stamina on your part and an accurate cast, but once you get your bait in front of one of these feeding fish you will have your hands full. Inshore fishing charters in Charleston and Folly Beach has also been great with plenty of Speckled Trout, Redfish and Flounder hugging the grasslines and oyster beds in shallow water searching for minnows, crabs and shrimp.

Come on out and go fishing with us. Book directly online, call or email for reservations. These happy folks in the pictures below did!
