April Fishing Forecast

Folly Beach fishing charters are reporting good spring fishing! Typically as the month goes on we will have more sunny days, warmer water and less wind. With these variables becoming less of an issue the fishing becomes more consistent. Also as the water warms more species become available to us. We will also have less extreme tides, which helps us to locate fish more effectively.

Inshore and nearshore fishing charters from Folly Beach are catching Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish and some reports of inshore shark catches are coming in. The Redfish and Speckled Trout bite has been good on inshore fishing charters, while Black Drum and Flounder are showing up consistently near our jetties and nearshore reefs. All fish are responding well to live or cut shrimp, minnows and cut mullet. If you favor fishing with artificials the fish are striking jigs equally as well.

Charleston Deep Sea fishing charters have been catching cobia, Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel, Amberjack and a variety of Snapper. Charter boats are bottom fishing on reefs and trolling spots in 70 to 100 ft of water. I recommend the 8 or 10 hour charter for those of you interested in making the run to the offshore grounds. For those of you that want to bring home fish to eat, the 8 and 10 hr Deep Sea charter gives you the best chance to bring some fresh seafood home with you.

For groups that want to get out and enjoy a few hours on the water with us a 4 hour charter is perfect. For the more serious angler I recommend the 6 hour inshore charter. We can cover more ground, target more species and typically employ a variety of techniques during the 6 hour trip. This year we have introduced 2 hour family style trips for our young and casual anglers. It’s the perfect way to keep your time on the water interesting for everyone.
