Lights Out for Sea Turtle Nesting Season!
newvisitfollyadmin2022-05-05T12:48:15-05:00Loggerhead Sea Turtle Nesting Season is from May 1 – October 31
— that means LIGHTS OUT ON THE BEACH!
— that means LIGHTS OUT ON THE BEACH!
Our beloved Loggerhead sea turtles are an endangered species and they need our cooperation in order for even a few of the precious hatchlings to survive. Hatchling turtles travel toward the brightest light which should be the moon … if they are disorientated by artificial light coming from homes or flashlights, they will travel in the wrong direction and never make it to the ocean.
Please observe our laws to protect Loggerheads on Folly:
– No lights are allowed that illuminate the front beach between 10 pm and dawn from May 1st to October 31st.
– Do not shine lights on a sea turtle or take flash photography
– Do not disturb a nesting sea turtle and observer her only from a distance
– Fill in large holes dug on the beach at the end of the day as both adult and baby turtles can get trapped.
Thanks for helping us protect our Loggerhead turtles!
This is how we mark Sea Turtle nests. PLEASE do not approach or bother these areas.
Make a Wish at the Folly Wish Tree
newvisitfollyadmin2021-05-11T16:12:02-05:00The Magical Folly Wish Tree
Sometimes just being on Folly is a wish come true, but this goes a step further.
One of the lesser-known but truly magical landmarks on Folly is called The Folly Wish Tree. It is said that if you hang a shell on one of the branches and make a wish, it will come true.
To find the Wish Tree, head just past the County Park on the West end of the island. You’ll hear the tinkling shells blowing in the breeze as you get closer.
Go ahead and give it a try.
May Fishing Forecast

We have been fishing daily and our Folly Beach fishing charters have been boating good numbers of fish. Nicer weather and warmer water has brought in plenty of natural bait which has all our local game fish feeding on a more consistent basis. Deep Sea fishing charters have been catching Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel, Amberjack and a variety of Snapper and other bottom fish on the offshore reefs and trolling spots in 70 to 100 ft of water. Nearshore fishing charters are finding fish 3 to 5 miles from shore and have been catching big Bull Redfish, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel and Sharks just to name a few. Inshore fishing charters have been taking advantage of the shallow water Speckled Trout, Redfish and Black Drum action. This is a great time of year for all kinds of fisherman. From beginners of any age to seasoned anglers we will be able to put together a great experience for you.

April Fishing Forecast
newvisitfollyadmin2021-04-05T11:01:12-05:00April Fishing Forecast
Folly Beach fishing has been good recently when we get several warm days in a row. When we get cold fronts, the fishing has been average. The good news is as the month goes on, we will have warmer water and the fishing will get progressively better! Inshore, we are catching Speckled Trout, Redfish, Black Drum and Flounder on live and cut bait. If you favor fishing with artificials, the fish are striking jigs equally as well. For groups that want to get out and enjoy a few hours on the water with us, a 4 hour charter is perfect. For the more serious angler, I recommend the 6 hour inshore charter where we can cover more ground, target more species, and typically employ a variety of techniques. This year, we have introduced 3 hour family style trips with combination dolphin eco tour and easy bottom fishing for our young and casual anglers. It’s the perfect way to keep your time on the water interesting for everyone.
Deep Sea fishing charters have been catching Mahi Mahi, King Mackerel, Amberjack, and a variety of Snapper and other bottom fish on the offshore reefs and trolling spots in 70 to 100 ft. of water. I recommend the 8 or 10 hour charter for those of you interested in making the run to the offshore grounds.
Nearshore fishing charters are finding fish 3 to 5 miles from shore and have been catching big Bull Redfish, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel and Sharks, just to name a few. 4 hour charters work just fine, however, consider a 6 to 8 hour charter to give yourself the best experience and enough time to take advantage of every opportunity we come across.

newvisitfollyadmin2021-03-05T14:05:43-05:00March Fishing Forecast
March is finally here! Deep Sea fishing charters, Nearshore charters and Inshore Charter fishing in Folly Beach, have been producing some of our favorite sport fish. Deep Sea Fishing charters have been targeting assorted Snapper, Wahoo, King Mackerel, Sea Bass and too many other species to mention. Nearshore fishing at the reefs and wrecks just off the beach have been catching Black Drum, Weakfish, Bluefish, Bull Redfish and Sheepshead. Inshore fishing charters have been targeting Redfish, Speckled Trout Black Drum and Flounder as they begin to feed more heavily in our warming waters. The inshore fishing in Folly Beach and Charleston is a great option this time of year. The waters are typically very calm making it a smooth outing for anglers of all ages and skill levels.

February Fishing Forecast
newvisitfollyadmin2021-02-15T16:59:53-05:00February Fishing Forecast
Fishing in Folly Beach has been good as we continue to enjoy our mild winter. With the absence of prolonged cold fronts so far this year, the inshore fishing charters out of Folly Beach have been outstanding. We have been targeting large schools of Redfish both in the creeks and on the flats, and connect with them well most of the time. The Redfish have been biting live shrimp, mud minnows and smaller soft plastics made by Z-Man. We have been having good luck fishing everything slowly in water 1 to 10 ft. deep. We are also catching Speckled Trout, Black Drum and Sheepshead when those opportunities present themselves. The fish are here and biting and our short cold spells will soon give way to longer warm spells and then before you know it, Spring will be here! There are plenty of good dates open, but with Spring Break and Summer vacation on everyone’s mind, a lot of reservations are coming in. Get you trips booked now to get the dates you want. You can reserve your date and make your reservation online here, or simply call or text to connect with us. Let’s go fishing!
