Morris Island Lighthouse Named #1 spot in Charleston to Watch the Sunrise by The Post and Courier’s Photographers

If being named the number one beach on the East Coast wasn’t enough, Folly Beach’s very own Morris Island Lighthouse has been named the number one spot in Charleston to watch the sunrise by The Post and Courier’s photographers!

The lighthouse was first lit in 1876 and shined bright across the water until 1962. It was then named as a Historic Place by the National Register in 1982. While it is beautiful on its own, during a sunrise or sunset, it can not be beat. Visitors and locals should make it a priority to take a walk to see this landmark in all its glory. You will not regret it!

Thank you Charleston Scene for this wonderful recognition!

August Fishing Forecast

Folly Beach fishing charters have been on a steady bite recently as a week of cooler than normal weather and calm conditions provided easy fishing conditions. There is plenty of fun to be had for anglers of every age and skill level. Bait is flush in the system and now through the end of December we typically experience the best fishing of the year. Shark fishing has been a crowd pleaser as these predators hug the beaches and prowl the inlets in search of an easy meal. Inshore Speckled Trout, Flounder and Redfish remain a favorite target while just off the beach the Bull Redfish run is in full swing. We have been casting assorted live bait such as finger mullet, mud minnows and shrimp to our inshore fish while cut menhaden seems to be the bait of choice for large Redfish and Sharks. Deep Sea trips are finding King Mackerel, Triggerfish, Cobia, Snapper and Amberjack for anglers that want to venture farther off the coast. What can you do in Folly Beach, after the sun sets?

Nightime on Folly
You’ve had a long, fun day at the beach but you’re not ready to settle in for the night yet. Once the sun goes down, the Folly Beach bar scene comes alive. The BEST thing to do after a day at the beach, is to grab dinner with a late-night drink at one of our many local bars. The Surf Bar is a hot spot for good food and drinks and live music. After dinner, take a moonlit stroll down the pier and listen as the waves crash against the shore. However you spend your time here, Folly Beach will be a place to remember.

July Fishing Forecast

Fishing in Folly Beach has been great this week. The summer fishing pattern has developed and all the usual species are being caught on a regular basis. Deep Sea fishing charters have been catching Cobia, King Mackerel, Spadefish and too many species to mention. Inshore fishing charters in Folly Beach have enjoyed a consistent Redfish and Speckled Trout bite. We have also been occasionally catching some nice Flounder and Spanish Mackerel. The shark bite has been good around the inlets and deeper water just inside the harbor and inland waterways. Live and fresh cut bait such as shrimp, mullet and menhaden have been the most dependable baits inshore during our trips but a proficient angler can still do well with plastics and hard baits. If you have questions or would like to reserve a date text, email, book directly online or call us.

We are looking forward to fishing with you!

Yes, Folly Beach welcomes everyone!! But we ask that you to do one thing while you’re here…

Folly Beach Pier
Yes it is! Folly Beach welcomes visitors of all over, we only ask that you take care of our beach while you’re here by picking up your trash and disposing of it properly. This helps us keep the beaches safe and clean for us to enjoy, along with the wildlife who live here! Whether you spend your time here strolling up and down the beach or visiting our various food destinations, visiting Folly Beach is an amazing experience for all.

Pack it in – Pack it out!

Pack it in – Pack it out!

Sea Bird
Folly Beach is home to such a wide variety of wildlife, many of which are endangered or protected. From dolphins to turtles to seabirds, the animals that live on our shoreline need to be protected from dangers that threaten their existence. The easiest, and most effective, way to help us protect these animals is to pick up after ourselves and each other. Picking up litter keeps it from entering our waters and being consumed by one of our wildlife neighbors. We ask that anything you bring to the beach, you bring back out with you. Your trash can be disposed of in one of our many trash bins around the beach entry points.
With your help, we can keep Folly clean and safe for everyone to enjoy!
