Celebrate National Hunting & Fishing Day on Folly Beach

Oh boy! What’s a better reminder that there is plenty of fish in the sea than National Hunting & Fishing Day! There are a plethora of options for casual casters and serious fishermen around Folly Beach. Shore fishing is in no shortage. You can check out Morris Island Lighthouse trail for quality spots.
One of the most popular and iconic in our area is the Folly Beach Pier equipped with many fishing stations. We recommend hitting the pier soon before it closes for construction on October 19th!

There is also the Charleston Fish Rod Bending Company providing charters and coming out with great monthly fishing forecasts. Both of these charter services and more can be found from our Things To Do Page under the “fishing” tab.
Don’t forget to pick up some extra supplies from Crosby’s Fish & Shrimp Co. on the drive out to the beach and you’ll be ready for your next excursion. Happy fishing!

September Fishing Forecast

We are entering one of our favorite times of the year with our Folly Beach fishing charters. Fall through the end of January typically means comfortable temperatures and great fishing! Inshore, nearshore and deep sea fishing charters will benefit from the bait migration from up north. The sudden influx of bait signals to every fish that it’s time to eat as much as they can before the bait heads farther south. Let’s get you out there to enjoy it with us! Call, text or book online.

National South Carolina Day

2020-08-31T18:07:09-05:00

Monday, August 31 is National South Carolina! We’ve gathered some facts to celebrate our Palmetto State! While the capital of South Carolina may be Columbia, the largest city in the state is Charleston while the largest barrier island is Hilton Head. South Carolina’s coastline is 187 miles long, creating barriers of islands guarding the state. Not only is South Carolina known for its gorgeous coastline, but this state is also home to sandhills, lowlands, and mountains. South Carolina’s state tree is the palmetto tree, the state flower is the yellow jasmine, and the state gemstone is the amethyst!

South Carolina is home to many things; like the first game of golf, sweet tea, and barbeque. In 1739 the first shipment of golf clubs arrived in Charleston from Scotland and the first game of golf played on an US course took place at the first golf club, the South Carolina Golf Club. Myrtle Beach is also known as the mini-golf capital of the world, being home to over 50 mini-golf courses! Not only is South Carolina home to golf, but the Lowcountry is attributed as the birthplace of barbeque!

While these facts only make up a small part of South Carolina’s history, you can now use this knowledge to go out and celebrate the Palmetto State and everything it has to offer!

August Fishing Forecast

August Fishing Forecast

Folly Beach fishing charters have been on a steady bite recently as calm weather and light winds provided easy fishing conditions. Shark fishing has been a crowd-pleaser as these fish hug the beaches and prowl the inlets in search of an easy meal. Inshore the Speckled Trout and Redfish remain a favorite target while just off the beach the Bull Redfish run is in full swing. Deep-Sea trips are finding King Mackerel, Triggerfish, Cobia, Snapper, and Amberjack for anglers that want to venture farther off the coast. Text, call, or book online 24 hrs a day.
We are looking forward to fishing with you!

Hold On To Your Butt

2020-08-03T14:15:10-05:00

Hold On To Your Butt

Eco-friendly cigarette disposal just got easier! Folly Beach is proud to be working in partnership with the Charleston chapter of the Surfrider Foundation on their campaign, Hold On To Your Butt!
The Charleston Surfrider Foundation is a grass-roots nonprofit protecting beaches, oceans, and waterways across the United States. Their mission is to protect waterways we love so dearly. The natural beauty of the coastline draws over 5 million visitors and $4.2 billion to Charleston each year. Our entire lives are built upon the amazing natural environment of Charleston. The biggest problem we face as a community is that pollution is endangering our beautiful home.
Thus the initiative, Hold On To Your Butt, was born! Cigarette buds are the most common litter found on beaches worldwide, and 98% of these cigarettes contain plastic fibers that are harmful to our wildlife. Hold On To Your Butt is a campaign that seeks to educate our community while working to keep our beaches clean and wildlife safe!
You may see new eco-friendly receptacles placed around Folly Beach for easy disposal. We ask that you join us in our effort to protect the place we love!
