Description
We are so happy to announce that after weeks of being closed, Folly Beach is now officially open to the public. On Friday, May 15, the City of Folly Beach removed the exercise only ordinance and checkpoints that were previously put in place. Visitors and residents are now free to go to the beach as they please.
With the beach re-opening being so recent, everyone must remember to continue to follow the city’s policy on dogs and alcohol. No dogs are allowed on the beach from 10 am- 6 pm, and no alcohol is permitted on the beach ever. It is also crucial that everyone makes sure to exercise proper social distancing practices while at Folly Beach. Groups need to be limited to three people, except for families. There will be police patrol on the beach to make sure that these social distancing practices are being followed. If social distancing is not being practiced, then tickets will be issued.
Along with the beaches re-opening, rentals and other overnight accommodations at Folly are also now available for extended periods of time. Short-term rentals no longer have a six-day minimum stay and hotels are open and in the rephrasing process. Many beachfront restaurants have opened their doors for outdoor and indoor dining and to ToGo meals. Strict sanitary and social distancing guidelines are followed so that visitors can dine safely and comfortably.
We are excited to get back to enjoying our happy place this summer and hope others feel the same. If every beach-goer does their part and follows the rules, then we can all enjoy the beach in the safest way possible!
